[/p]As Hurricane Irene swept across North Carolina (See Above Pictures) those who reside in New York was bracing for what was to come. The Mayor of NY and NJ issued warnings to certain designated areas for evacuation.[/p]
[/p]Hurricane Irene knocked out power to over four million homes and business as it made its way up the East Coast. The heavy rain brought with it 75 miles per hour wind, knocking down trees and power lines. Highways across the city, including the Henry Hudson Parkway and the West Side Highway in Manhattan and the Belt Parkway in Brooklyn were flooded. The evacuation order affects nearly 400,000 residents.[/p]
