“I think It Was An Insult” – Winnie Mandela Opens Up On Jennifer Hudson’s “Winnie” Biopic

Winnie Mandela is concerned about the upcoming biopic based on her love life with Nelson Mandela. The movie stars Jennifer Hudson (Winnie) and Terrance Howard (Nelson).

Oftentimes, when a biopic is done on a person who is still living that person is consulted. Doing such makes it easier for the actor to bring out the raw emotions of the person they are playing. Many can not understand why she was not consulted. The trailer debut last year and faced ridicule from the media and viewers.

In any event, here is what Winnie had to say to CNN:

"I have nothing gainst Jennifer, but I'm against the movie itself. I was never consulted. I'm still alive. And I think its a total disrespect to come to South Africa, make a movie about my struggle and call that movie some translation of the romantic life of Winnie Mandela. I think its an insult. I do not know what would be romantic in our bitter struggle".[/p]
