RashaEntertainment sat down with renowned author Denesha Sheree for a one-on-one interview. Coined as "the baddest Novella ever told", Sheree explains her humble beginning as a writer and delve into her book and why its a must read.[/p]Briefly explain your background as an author and what was the impetus that made you want to become a literary author?
I actually ignored my talent for years. I can remember a professor pulled me to the side after class, and encouraged me to publish my work. I just brushed him off. It wasn’t until years later that I began to recognize the creative side of me.[/p]Where did the idea of Tredina's Portal came from?
Tredina’s Portal derived from a crazy ass dream that I had about me battling against my reflection in my vanity mirror. It was actually wrote like six years ago under the name Two-Faced. When I began to write about this dream I couldn’t stop. I was going through a very dark time, so I think that played a factor in the plot itself.[/p]How would you describe your writing style and what made delve in to write Novellas?
I describe my writing as twisted romance novels. I wanted to toy with my readers mind by seducing them with my words while providing with suspense. My writings are full of wisdom as well. One of my readers described my writing style as being on some Eve’s Bayou type shit. (Laughing) I thought that was a good description. I wanted to do Novellas, because I wanted to hit my readers with cliff hangers and the only way to do that was to create short stories that start crazy and end crazy…. Super fast[/p]Many readers are going to wonder if the characters in your book are fictitious characters or not can you give us some insight?
People that have read the book, often ask me if I was the character Tredina. I always say Tredina and Denesha Shared some similar experiences. The characters in my book, have also shared some similar experiences with the people in my surrounding, who by the way love the story. (Laughing[/p]What direction do you want your Novella's to go in?[/p]I would love to see my novellas on film. I would love to have sold my story to Rainforest Productions, because the movies they produce are similar to my writing style which is twisted and sexy. However if someone takes a chance to make one of my Novellas into a movie series, I would jump at the opportunity.[/p]At the end of the day the literary field is a business and not just a hobby. In any business there is competition, what are the hurdles and competition you overcame to arrive at this point?
The first hurdle I encountered was having my book reprinted due to poor editing. The funny thing is people were still trying to buy them with the few errors in order to read the story. That is when I knew I had something special. The literary game is not as easy as people think it is. It’s always easy to get your friends or family to buy the book. The challenge is getting someone that you don’t even know to pick it up. There are so many people in the world of book writing now. If your characters don’t move in the book, then the readers can’t vibe to it. When I say move, I mean if a reader can’t visualize them, then the story is shot to hell. There are thousands of good authors out there. It’s the luck of the draw if you book falls into the right person hand because the competition can be overwhelming at times.[/p]Last but not least, what is next for Denesha Stamps?
I want my readers to continue to take me to bed with them (laughing), so I wrote another Twisted Tale called “The Yellow Clutch Society”. This one is going to be super crazy because once again, you can’t tell who you can trust. It’s lustful but tasteful. I will continue to establish myself as the Queen of Novellas in this literary game. I thank you sir for allowing me to introduce my self as well as my writing style.[/p]via: DeneshaSheree[/p]
