After Stat Quo, Obie Trice and Bobby Creekwater left Shady Records many wonder about the fate of the label. Eminem kept churning out hits and platinum selling albums to keep the name alive, but he needed a crew of rappers.
In 2011 it was announced Slaughter House rappers (Royce Da 5’ 9”, Joe Budden, Crooked I and Joell Ortiz) were joining the roster. Due to the overwhelming success of Slaughter House the rap game is preparing for its dominance on the charts and radio now that they are backed by powerhouse rapper and mogul Eminem.
In the latest issue of XXL Magazine EIC Vanessa Satten sat down Eminem and his latest signees to talk Shady 2.0
“It just feels good to put lyricism in the forefront again, in my eyes,” Joell Ortiz says in the article. “Some of my heroes, when I came up rhymin’, were Biggie Smalls, Big L—rest in peace to all these—Big Pun. Dudes who were passionate about the way they put words together, the message they sent when they rhymed, and just bein’ ill with the pen. And Ifeel like this group, and Yelawolf and Em, are dudes who stand for that. And it’s good to see the pure form gettin’ shine again.”[/p]“‘Be afraid,’” Royce warns other rap crews, “cause as soon as we make the announcement that Slaughterhouse and Yelawolf is signed to Shady, not even 30 days after that, it’s on the cover of the biggest hip-hop magazine.”[/p] Related posts WU-TANG AND SLAUGHTERHOUSE BEEF NO MORE (July 19, 2009)">WU-TANG AND SLAUGHTERHOUSE BEEF NO MORE (0) Slaughterhouse - The One (August 2, 2009)">Slaughterhouse - The One (0) Random Axe Plus Slaughter House = New Millennium Wu-Tang Clan (June 4, 2009)">Random Axe Plus Slaughter House = New Millennium Wu-Tang Clan (0) "Microphone" by Slaughterhouse [Official Video] (November 23, 2009)">"Microphone" by Slaughterhouse [Official Video] (0)
